A handful of patent images have emerged online that appear to show the production-ready Galaxy Light electric sedan set to be produced by Geely.

The Chinese car manufacturer launched its new Galaxy brand of eco-friendly vehicles in January. The first vehicle set to hit the market will be the PHEV L7 SUV but Geely also unveiled a sleek sedan concept dubbed the Galaxy Light. This sedan now appears to be closer to production than we had thought after photos of it emerged as part of a filing made with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Similarities between the Geely concept and the production model are visible from every angle. Like the concept, the production model has a thin set of headlights that sit above pronounced and angular air intakes. A look at the doors shows that they too are very similar to the concept and have almost identical lines and creases.

Patents Reveal Geely’s Production-Ready Galaxy Light Electric Sedan

Meanwhile, we can see that the Galaxy Light sedan’s rear end is just like that of the concept and has thin LED taillights and a light bar.

The most obvious change is the slightly different proportions. The production model appears shorter than the concept but looks to sit a little higher. In addition, the front axle of the concept has been pushed closer to the cabin, resulting in a longer front overhang and a shorter wheelbase. The addition of a long rear overhang adds to the somewhat-odd shape of the sedan.

Few technical specifications are known about Geely’s upcoming Galaxy Light sedan but the Polestar Forum suggests it could be priced around the same mark as the Polestar 2. What we know for sure is that Galaxy models from Geely will be based on the same E-CMA platform as the likes of the Polestar 2 and various Lynk & Co models. Geely has also confirmed they will use a new Aegis battery system that’s designed to protect the cells against fires during a crash.
