Rolls-Royce has ventured into new territory with the all-electric Spectre and it is already proving popular, so much so that some customers placing an order today will have to wait until 2025 before taking delivery.

While recently speaking about the demand for the vehicle at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy, Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös said the carmaker is working to get the car into the hands of customers as quickly as possible.

“If you would order today, you probably will take delivery in 2025,” he told Inside EVs. “Our intention [is 15 months], yeah? Mid to long term we might see spikes, obviously, but my intention is not that our clients need to wait many years until they take delivery of one of our products. Clients don’t appreciate, in the luxury segment, waiting times over two years, three years, four years, five years, or even let’s say, like, ‘We are sold out even before the car is on the ground,’ or whatever.”

In January, Rolls-Royce revealed that it was receiving so many orders for the EV that it would need to increase its production plans. Müller-Ötvös has previously said the vehicle will become its “third pillar” of sales after the Cullinan and Ghost, but it’s not yet clear precisely how many examples it expects to build annually.

The car manufacturer has built the Spectre around its Architecture of Luxury platform and has its battery pack integrated within the aluminum spaceframe. Rolls-Royce notes the EV can travel 320 miles (520 km) on a charge under WLTP, offering a combined 557 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. These figures propel the Spectre to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.
