The Helfman River Oaks Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership in Houston, Texas, recently experienced a daring car theft, which owner Alan Helfman described as a brazen act. According to the police report, the thieves arrived on the premises in a purportedly stolen Cadillac and made off with both the Cadillac and a white RAM TRX, all transpiring during regular business hours. Adding to the unfortunate incident, the dealership remained unaware of the theft for several days, and the culprits are yet to be apprehended.

The incident occurred on May 10th in southwest Houston when three individuals arrived at the lot in a golden-colored Cadillac SRX. The automated camera system promptly flagged the license plate as stolen, alerting the employees. However, despite the notification, the individuals in the SRX managed to evade detection and no contact was made with them.

As stated by the dealer, the stolen car was partially concealed within the service area. Surveillance footage reveals the Cadillac entering the lot and parking, followed by an individual exiting the vehicle and approaching the RAM. Within seconds, the unidentified man breaks the rear driver-side door window and swiftly enters the truck. Astonishingly, an employee unknowingly walks within close proximity to the thief during the incident.

“They must plug into the system and see if they can’t start the car, It’s really a terrible thing, and if they put their talents into the business world, they would probably be just as successful,” Helfman told ABC13. Sure enough, that seems to be what happened because not long after making entry the thieves drive off single file out of the lot.

Dodge vehicles have unfortunately become prime targets for thieves due to their vulnerability to theft facilitated by modern technology. While dealers have the option to install physical anti-theft devices, this particular RAM lacked such deterrents, making it an easier target for the criminals.

Helfman admitted that it was “a few days later” before anyone even noticed the big brash truck was missing. As of this writing, there’s no indication that police are any closer to catching the criminals. Helfman hopes that someone will recognize them from the video and help the police bring them to justice.
