The Subaru Ascent is climbing to new heights, but we’re unfortunately talking about pricing as the 2024 model will start at $34,195 when it arrives at U.S. dealerships this fall.

That’s $300 more than its predecessor and it appears customers will get nothing new. That’s slightly disappointing, but not too surprising as the Ascent received a facelift last year.

Kicking things off is the base Ascent, which is remarkably unremarkable. It features LED headlights, roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The interior isn’t particularly noteworthy either, but it comes equipped with cloth seats, an automatic climate control system, and an 11.6-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Buyers will also find remote keyless entry and 19 cup holders, despite the fact the crossover only seats up to eight people.

While it might be entry-level, the base Ascent comes equipped with an EyeSight driver assistance system that includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management. Buyers will also find High Beam Assist, Rear Seat Reminder, and a Rear Vision Camera.

Motivation is provided by a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine developing 260 hp (194 kW / 264 PS) and 277 lb-ft (375 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a continuously variable transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.

Since everything appears to carryover and Subaru’s PR team recycled last year’s material, we’ll remind you the base model is joined by Premium, Onyx Edition, Limited, Onyx Edition Limited, and Touring trims. The latter starts at $48,495 and features an exclusive high gloss black grille, chrome door handles, satin chrome mirror caps, and rain-sensing wipers.

The range-topper also sports a classier cabin with perforated Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. They’re joined by a panoramic moonroof, faux wood trim, and a 14 speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
