McLaren did the nearly unthinkable last year when it announced that it would build 25 units of its Vision Gran Turismo Concept. Dubbed the Solus GT, this single-seater hypercar features a 5.2-liter V10 and bodywork that looks more at home in deep space than it does on Earth. It’ll exercise that V10 by screaming up the Goodwood Hillclimb in its public debut.

The car we now know as the Solus GT made its virtual debut all the way back in 2017 in the video game Gran Turismo Sport. Back then we all knew it as the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo. Now, 25 very wealthy individuals are going to have the experience of owning the real thing.

Some of them might be seeing it in person in action when it debuts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on the weekend of July 13th through the 16th. Its debut at the hallowed event is part of McLaren’s 60th anniversary celebration which will feature famous models from history along with modern machines like the Solus GT.

“This year is the 60th anniversary of McLaren being founded, and the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the ideal event to celebrate six decades of thrilling performance,” said CEO of McLaren Michael Leiters to TheBusinessMagazineUK.

“Alongside iconic cars from our past, we will be showcasing our current model range which together with two global dynamic debuts further strengthens the foundations for a new Future of Performance for McLaren,” he continued.

The other notable debut will be the new 750S mid-engine supercar. The Artura, McLaren’s new hybrid supercar will also be on the scene for some high-speed antics. Neither of those cars is truly equal to the Solus GT though.

While each is special in its own right, street cars in general won’t hold much of a candle to the batty racing-inspired Solus GT. It features a rev limit north of 10,000 RPM and some 817 hp (609 kW). Pricing floats somewhere around $3.5 million and again, just 25 are being made for the whole planet. We can’t wait to hear what it sounds like climbing up the historic hill.
