A handful of photos and details have just emerged of China’s latest electric car, the Avatr 12. It has been brought to life by a collaboration between Changan, Huawei, and CATL that first brought us the Avatr 11 a couple of years ago and is the brand’s first sedan.

Information from China’s Ministry of Industry and Technology shows that the Avatr 12 is quite a large sedan, stretching 5,020 mm (197.6 inches) long, 1,999 mm (78.7 inches) wide, and 1,460 mm (57.4 inches) tall with a lengthy 3,020 mm (118.9-inch) wheelbase. This makes it larger than the Nio ET7 and when it does hit the market, two powertrains will be offered.

Sitting at the base of the range is a rear-wheel drive model with a single electric motor that is good for 308 hp (230kW). A dual-motor, all-wheel drive version will also be offered. This model has a pair of electric motors (195 kW front and 230 kW rear) that combine to produce 569hp (425 kW). Battery pack details are not yet known but Car News China expects the Avatr 12 to be offered with the same battery packs as its SUV sibling, meaning the base model will have a 90.4 kWh pack while the dual-motor version will have a 116.8 kWh pack.

The exterior design of the Avatr 12 is very similar to the 11 SUV albeit squished down into sedan form. Dominating the front end of the car are split LED headlights with a daytime running light that curves its way down the fascia, connecting to a central grille with a black finish. Four different wheel designs will be available in 20- and 21-inch sizes.

Avatr’s designers have then crafted one of the more unique rear fascias we’ve seen in quite some time. The 12 has a sleek roofline that gently flows down into a large hatchback. There is no separate rear window and instead, it appears that the 12 has a complete glass roof, similar to the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. We can also see what appears to be a pop-up spoiler and thin, horizontal LED taillights.
