For months now, it seems like covertly-taken photos of the Tesla Cybertruck have been dropping regularly. That steady flow of leaks may slow significantly now that an ironically leaked document suggests that the automaker is threatening to severely penalize employees caught taking photos of the Cybertruck without permission.

In a memo allegedly sent to employees, Tesla threatens to remove any person who takes photos of the truck (and is not required to for their job) with immediate removal from its Austin, Texas assembly plant.

“Any employees or contractors found taking photos of [sic] videos on-site of anything related to the Cybertruck (e.g. vehicle, parts, production line, etc.) without an official business need/justification […] will be immediately escorted off-site pending HR investigation and follow up contact,” the document, posted to X by @TeslaPhx, reads.

The document then clarifies that people who are required to take photos of the Cybertruck for work purposes will be given “photo passes/stickers” to help security staff identify them. While the full consequences of being found to be leaking photos by HR is not laid out, the strength of Tesla’s language here suggests that it is taking such leaks very seriously.

While many of the spy photos taken of the Cybertruck were of it on public roads, a number of leaks have emerged from within the factory, too. That goes some way to explaining why Tesla is taking this issue so aggressively.

Earlier this month, a video showing the truck’s frunk revealed that it would be disproportionately small, as compared to the rest of the vehicle. Another leak showed the truck wearing a Ford F-150-themed wrap, and those are just the latest photos.
