Zenvo Is Working On A Smaller And “More Affordable” $2 Million Hypercar

Hot on the heels of unveiling the new hybrid Zenvo Aurora hypercar, the Danish company has revealed that it is already working on a slightly smaller and ‘cheaper’ sibling.

Developing and building a vehicle like the Aurora isn’t cheap, particularly given that Zenvo is not backed by a large car manufacturer. As such, the company wants to make the most out of the carbon fiber monocoque it has developed and is planning to use it for a series of other projects.

While speaking with Motor1 at the unveiling of the Aurora during Monterey Car Week, Zenvo head of design Christian Brandt confirmed that the company’s next project is a ‘junior hypercar’.

“We can use this monocoque for other projects,” he said. “The next product down the line is what we call a junior hypercar, so it will be smaller, more compact, lower price point. [The Aurora] is $3 million, that one is probably going to be $1.8 or $2.0 million.” Not exactly cheap then.

Zenvo hasn’t just developed a monocoque that it can use for various vehicles. Powering the car is a quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12 from Mahle Powertrain with a cool 1,250 hp. This engine also revs to 9,500 rpm, rare for an engine of this size with forced induction. As it turns out, this engine won’t just be used by the Aurora as it is a modular powertrain that can be modified for use in other vehicles.

“The engine is also designed with modularity in mind, so we can actually chop cylinders off – we can do a V8, we can do a V6,” Brandt added. “There are four turbos, they are basically feeding three cylinders each, so if you cut it down and just have two turbos and six cylinders.”

It is unclear when Zenvo plans to introduce its junior hypercar. However, we know that production of the Aurora won’t start until 2026 so those hoping to get behind the wheel of a new $2 million Zenvo may have to wait until the end of the decade.
