Mercedes has used the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon to highlight plans for a series of electric camper vans.

The models will be based on the dedicated VAN.EA architecture, which is slated to be launched in 2026. The platform will underpin medium and large vans, and the company has previously announced they’ll be offered with front- and all-wheel drive.

Since 2026 is still a ways off, details are a little hazy. However, Mercedes said the medium and large electric RVs will be offered ex-factory. The company went on to say they’ll work with international partners to “develop the new industry standard for electric RVs.”

Besides hinting at an electric future, Mercedes used the show to introduce the facelifted V-Class Marco Polo. It has a more expressive front end with a new bumper and a larger grille. They’re joined by new lighting units, a revised rear bumper, restyled wheels, and a revamped color palette.

The updates continue in the cabin as the van adopts a minimalist aesthetic and an all-new dashboard. Drivers will also find new 12.3-inch displays, a modernized steering wheel, and a revamped center console. Other highlights include expanded ambient lighting, augmented reality navigation, and a heated steering wheel. The Airmatic air suspension can also now level the van even when it’s parked on “slightly uneven ground.”

Putting the changes aside, the V-Class Marco Polo features a pop-up roof with a bed that can accommodate two people. Two others can sleep on the rear seat, which can be transformed into a makeshift bed. The cabin also has stylish cabinetry, a folding table, and a fully equipped kitchen with a cook top and a sink.

Shoppers with more modest budgets can check out the T-Class with the Marco Polo Module. It’s pretty basic, but adds a two-person bed. However, an optional kitchen unit includes a sink and a gas burner. They can be augmented by a small refrigerator.
