While the 2024 Polestar 2 may look very similar to the car it replaces, a number of important upgrades have been made under the skin to not only improve its performance but also boost its range. In fact, details recently released by the EPA confirm that it can now travel up to 320 miles on a charge.

Continuing to sit at the base of the Polestar 2 range in the U.S. is the Long Range Single Motor version. In both the 2022 and 2023 model years, this version could travel up to 270 miles (435 km). For 2024, the range has increased to 320 miles (515 km) with the available 19-inch wheels or 307 miles (494 km) with the 20-inch wheels.

The main reason for the significant boost in driving range is that it now has an 82 kWh battery pack as opposed to a 78 kWh one. Additionally, a host of new efficiencies have been found and it has also switched from being front-wheel drive to a rear-wheel drive setup. It is also more powerful, producing 295 hp as opposed to 228 hp, and can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.9 seconds rather than 7.

The range of the Polestar 2 Dual Motor has also jumped. In 2022, this version had 249 miles (401 km) of range and jumped to 260 miles (418 km) for the 2023 model year. It has since increased further to 276 miles (444 km) of range with the 19-inch wheels and 266 miles (428 km) with the 20-inch wheels. The gains for the Dual Motor version aren’t as significant as it still continues to use last year’s 78 kWh battery in the U.S., which is curious given that the Dual Motor versions in other markets have the newer 82 kWh battery.

Topping out the Polestar 2 range is the Dual Motor Performance Pack. It has been rated at 247 miles (397 km) of range according to the EPA which, interestingly, is slightly less than the 260 miles (418 km) of the 2023 model. It too rocks the older 78 kWh battery.
