Think Honda tuning, and you’ll likely think of Mugen. The independent tuning company, founded by the son of Honda’s founder, has a long and impressive history of collaborations with Honda. Whether prepping V10 engines for Formula 1 throughout the 90s or designing a body kit for the latest Civic, Mugen’s unwavering association makes it one of the first stops for Honda go-faster bits.

The company’s history is now being commemorated in the form of a special edition watch crafted by Honda partners Casio Edifice. While Casio and Honda have worked together on several timepieces, this marks the first time Mugen is working with the watchmaker.

Celebrate 50 Years Of Honda Tuner Mugen With This Special Casio Watch

Celebrating Mugen’s 50th anniversary, the ECB40MU-1A (catchy) combines the essence of the past successes that both Mugen and Honda have sampled. That includes their entry into Formula 1 as an engine supplier, their success in the Isle Of Man TT, and the company’s continued participation in multiple races disciplines at home.

The watch features a carbon fiber-reinforced resin case, a similar material to that found on the latest G-Shocks, and ensures that it wears light on the wrist. The case design is said to be inspired by that of Formula 1 suspension.

The crystal is made from sapphire, favored among watch aficionados for its ability to resist scratches. Additionally, the markings on the bezel have been engraved using the same font as what Mugen uses on its shift knobs. The Alcantara strap lends more racing connotations and has been stamped with the Mugen logo. It also features tri-color stitching in the brand’s white, red, and gold color scheme.

Those colors extend to the dial too, with three bars across the middle of the black dial. Red adorns the tips of the hands, while a Mugen logo is found at 3 o’clock. The case back features engravings too, while the watch also carries with it Bluetooth capabilities. Although it won’t call the emergency services in a car crash, it will pair to a phone. When connected, the watch will adjust itself for accuracy, while world time and alarm functions can be controlled within an app.

Although described by Casio as a limited edition, no production numbers were mentioned. However, if you’re in the U.S. and the Ediface Mugen Edition tickles your fancy, it can be purchased via the company’s website for $300.
