Over the last few years, Polestar has slowly but surely gained market share and momentum and now it’s about to release a refreshed 2. As the brand’s main product right now, it’s an incredibly important refresh and we’re about to drive it. What do you want to know about the 2024 Polestar 2?

The new Polestar 2 gets a few nips and tucks to the exterior including a new panel that all but eliminates the old grille space. In addition, there are new wheel choices available. Beyond that, most would be hard-pressed to pick one out from an older version of the 2. Despite that, Polestar chief executive Thomas Ingenlath says “The upgraded Polestar 2 is the best version to date.”

Ingenlath touts the software, quality, and additional range as the reasons for that sentiment. Along those same lines we only know so much at the moment. For instance, the 2 now sports an 82 kWh battery pack from CATL with up to 205 kW DC fast charging.

That enables a range of 395 miles (635 km) on a single charge in single-motor variants. Dual-motor cars will get up to 368 miles (592 km) per charge. Interestingly, Polestar has made a major shift to the single-motor version too.

It’s now rear-wheel drive instead of front-wheel drive. It also makes 295 hp (219 kW) and 361 lb-ft (490 Nm) of torque. That’s 67 ponies (49 kW) and 118 lb-ft (160 Nm) than before. The dual-motor car also gets more rear-drive bias than in the past. Those changes should, in theory at least, make it a better handling EV.

What we don’t know just yet is what sort of major software and quality updates to expect when we drive the car in Denver later this week. What do you want to know about Polestar’s new 2? Let us know in the comments below and we’ll be sure to get you the answers!
