Quite often, supercar replicas are powered by small-capacity engines with lackluster performance that simply don’t match the exotic looks. This Lamborghini Aventador Roadster replica is a little bit different.

You see, this Aventador replica started out life as a 2006 Pontiac GTO that was built in Australia where it was badged the Holden Monaro. Original fifth-generation GTO models sold in the U.S. came equipped with a 5.7-liter naturally-aspirated LS1 V8 but as a 2006 model, this car has the more desirable 6.0-liter LS2 V8 with a respectable 400 hp at 5,200 rpm and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. Sure, it’s not a Lamborghini V12 but it’s better than some four-cylinder replicas we’ve seen over the years.

The car is currently up for sale through Facebook Marketplace in Santa Fe, Texas and has completely bespoke bodywork to mimic the Aventador Roadster. For example, the entire front end has been modeled after the Italian supercar and it even features very similar side air intakes and creases running along the doors. The fifth-gen GTO was never sold as a convertible, meaning the builder of the replica would have had to chop off the roof themselves, likely impacting the car’s structural rigidity.

This Lamborghini Aventador Replica Is Based On A Pontiac GTO And Has An LS2 V8

A key reason why many supercar replicas are based around the Pontiac Fiero is that it is mid-engined. The GTO is front-engined. Nevertheless, this replica has had its engine relocated from the front to behind the cabin. The owner even went to the trouble of fitting a cover over the V8 that makes it seem like a Lamborghini V12. You have to respect the effort.

Interested buyers should note that the replica isn’t exactly cheap, carrying a $35,000 price tag. That’s quite a lot given reasonable 2006 GTOs can be found on the used market for around $20,000.
