The North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards jury has revealed its list of 25 semi finalists for its annual award. Among the hopefuls are 10 cars, 10 utility vehicles, and five trucks.

The list was chosen from a total of 52 eligible vehicles, and the finalists were announced at the Detroit Auto Show. Now, the list will be winnowed further, until each category has just three finalists, which will be announced in November, on November 16 in Los Angeles.

For now, the list contains eight electric vehicles, among them the BMW i5, the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the Chevrolet Blazer, the Chevrolet Equinox EV, the Genesis Electrified GV70, the Kia EV9, and the Volvo EX30.

The finalists will be evaluated by a jury comprising 50 members. NACTOY claims that because these jurors have a variety of preferences, points of view, and judgment criteria, they combine to create a pool of experts whose opinions represent a fair and impartial view of the automotive world.

The jurors will be given an opportunity to drive all of the vehicles in this list at a comparison drive in Michigan later this year. The ultimate winners of the car, truck, and utility vehicle of the year awards will be announced in Detroit on January 4, 2024.
