What do you get when you combine two 1962 Volkswagen Type 2s? The answer is a camper unlike any other that will soon cross the auction block. Remarkably, it is registered and legal to use on British roads and is so much cooler than any other caravan or RV out there.

Comprehensive changes have been made to the two VW Type 2s to morph them into the RV. The one at the front serves as the tow vehicle and has had its cabin cut in half, essentially turning it into a two-door pickup truck with the engine in the bed. The second Type 2 then serves as the living quarters and has had its original front end removed and the base cut out so it neatly connects to the tow vehicle.

The builder has also fitted the front VW with a 2.5-liter five-cylinder from an Audi S3 that’s paired with an automatic transmission.

Two VW Type 2s Combine To Make An Epic Audi S3-Powered Camper

Car & Classic is selling the creation and notes that the living quarters are large enough to support a big double bed surrounded by wooden cabinetry to store items. A large fridge is also featured as is a roof that can be elevated to improve interior space. The cabin of the tow vehicle is well-appointed and includes the original steering wheel and pedals. There is also a Hurts-style shifter for the automatic transmission and a freshly trimmed bench seat and door cards.

The seller notes that the bodywork of the two VW Type 2s is straight and that the paint is in excellent condition with no obvious signs of scratches, dents, or other damage. No pre-auction estimate has been offered for the sale but is should fetch a pretty penny.
