When the Jeep Gladiator was first announced in 2018, there was much excitement from the off-roading community. Previously, if you wanted a Wrangler with the versatility of a pick-up bed, you’d have to opt for some kind of conversion, such as the AEV Brute.

But for some reason, the shine seems to have been wiped off the pickup’s appeal, which has led to some rather deep discounts being offered in the market – and that’s not a sentence you often see these days.

First spotted by Cars Direct, it seems that a combination of manufacturer and dealer discounts can net potential 2023 Gladiator owners a saving in the region of nearly $20,000 – or, in other words, almost 33 percent!

The deal was offered by a Jeep dealer in West Covina, California, which has posted a sale price of $34,971 for a brand-new Gladiator Sport. While the base MSRP of such a truck is $38,775 excluding destination, the Gladiator Sport comes highly specced, with an eight-speed automatic transmission, a three-piece hard top, the dual door group, premium paint, and premium uppers.

With the optional extras, the MSRP of said truck is $52,505. Subtracted from that figure is a $5,251 manufacturer incentive, plus a whopping dealer discount of $12,283. That leaves the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport at a bargain price of $34,971 – and it could be less if Jeep’s 15 percent Californian discount (as opposed to the national 10 percent present in the quote) is applied.

With the 2024 model of the Gladiator expected to hit showrooms later this year, it would appear that the company and its dealers are keen to shift old 2023 MY stock, of which there’s a reported 18,000 left unsold.

While the 2024 facelift brings a smattering of improvements, there’s nothing earth-shatteringly impressive that the ’24 model has over the outgoing ’23 MY. So, if you’re in the market for a mid-sized, all-wheel drive, do-it-all pickup, now might be the best time to have a look at your local Jeep dealership.
