The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook this week to warn drivers in the area that someone might be on the streets with a truck that resembled a Border Patrol vehicle. However, it wasn’t an exact replica of the law enforcement agency’s markings. Instead of focusing on borders, this Florida man was patrolling booties. Yes, seriously.

The sheriff’s office alleges that the truck is “equipped with red and blue lights [and] has been impersonating law enforcement.” It claims that the pickup, a white Chevrolet Silverado, was spotted in several counties, not just in DeSoto.

The police officers’ dedication eventually led them to pull the truck over on Sunday, October 29. Except, the driver wasn’t cited for being immature; instead, he was cited for “violating FSS 316.2397, which pertains to Certain Lights Prohibited,” it wrote in a social media post.

Florida’s Elusive “Booty Patrol” Truck Finally Gets Pulled Over By Real Cops

It’s not clear if the truck was attempting to pull people over, a behavior that can be frighteningly dangerous, or simply being a nuisance, but either way, it’s probably not wise to make your vehicle look like a law enforcement vehicle, no matter how lewd it is. Although the driver was not identified as a man, we can be pretty certain that it was. I mean, come on.

The silly nature of the “Booty Patrol” markings on the vehicle has caught the attention of a lot of people, and even made it to the national news. Or, at least, the Booty Patrol equivalent of the national news, as “The Daily Show” guest host, Charlamange tha God, joked about the truck with correspondent Desi Lydic.

Together, they riffed on the premise, listing other departments that worked with the Booty Patrol, including the “DTF,” the “Secret Cervix,” the “Federal Erection Commission,” and that old schoolyard classic, the “Federal Breast Inspectors.”

While the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office can’t find the humor in the truck, it seems the rest of the world is happy to titter at the word booty.
