Blurry photos of a yet-unrevealed Lamborghini supercar on social media got fans speculating whether this could be the Huracan successor. A closer look reveals that the pictured model has more in common with the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 racecar than with the camouflaged prototypes of the next generation.

The extravagant bumper, vented hood, slim headlights, and wide front fenders with integrated vents look identical to the Super Trofeo EVO2 racecar that debuted back in 2021. The same applies to the overall silhouette, greenhouse, and the positioning of the taillights. Still, the purple Lamborghini has a few differences from the Super Trofeo on the aerodynamic package and new LED graphics on both ends – including the bumper-mounted hexagonal-shaped DRLs that tricked most into believing it was the new model.

Some commenters suggest that the photos could be the result of digital renderings, made to look real with special effects. Others believe that this is a new version of the 2021 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 converted from a track-only racecar to a street-legal monster. It could also be a standard Huracan STO made to look more like the racecar thanks to a custom bodykit. This could be the request of a wealthy Lamborghini owner with the right connections, explaining the styling tweaks.

Of course, we can’t rule out the possibility of another motorsport-derived version of the existing Huracan slotting above the STO with an ultra-limited production run as the swan song of the current baby Lambo. In any case, chances are that you won’t be able to buy it, as with any new example of the Huracan which is sold out until the forthcoming end of its production later this year.

The successor of the Lamborghini Huracan is expected to debut in late 2024 with a plug-in hybrid V8 taking the place of the naturally aspirated V10. During the past year, our spy photographers caught several prototypes of the electrified supercar in action giving us an idea of what to expect. Despite the camouflage wrap and the familiar proportions, the position of the lighting units is different from any existing version of the Huracan. This served as a reference point for the new photos, all but confirming that we are not looking at the next-gen model.
