The long-awaited Polestar 5 has been unveiled in production guise at the company’s Polestar Day held in Los Angeles, California where it was showcased alongside the brand’s other models.
The Geely-backed carmaker has been developing and teasing the 5 over the past two years. It is expected to officially launch in 2025 and looks exactly how we expected it would. That means it is a sleek sedan with styling traits similar to other Polestar models while still boasting its own personality.
Found up front are split headlights very similar to those of the Polestar 4 and even though there’s no traditional grille, the shapely lines and creases visible across the front give the 5 a bit of personality. The roofline is particularly flowing and tapers back to an elongated decklid with no rear window, just like the 4. It remains to be seen how practical this will be on the road but it certainly helps the sedan stand out from the competition. A large LED light bar is also fitted alongside a black bumper.

Polestar only just announced it is developing extremely fast charging batteries with StoreDot that can deliver 100 miles (161 km) of range in just five minutes without any battery degradation. This new battery will be tested in a 5 prototype, although it is not yet clear if the 2025 model will hit the market with this battery tech.
What we do know is that the Polestar 5 pumps out a total of 872 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque from its two electric motors and uses an 800-volt electric architecture.
Other Polestar models on display
The brand’s full range of models were on display at the event, including the 2024 Polestar 2 as well as the Polestar 3, Polestar 4, the Polestar Precept that inspired the 5, the Polestar Electric Roadster Concept, and the Polestar Synergy. Attendees were able to test drive the new and improved Polestar 2 and go for passenger rides in the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
“Polestar Day provides substantial insight into our products and the innovations we are working on together with global leaders in various fields to bring the best electric performance cars to market,” Polestar chief executive Thomas Ingenlath said. “We are progressing from having one car on the roads – Polestar 2 – to having three, with the ongoing launches of our two SUVs, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4. The coming months will be some of the most exciting our young company has ever seen.”
