Ford has released an intriguing teaser image of a new Mustang variant across social media, previewing a new Mustang GT California Special.

The teaser, shared by Ford‘s CEO, Jim Farley, offers a glimpse of the new model’s grille, which features a sleek black design adorned with a striking blue GT/CS badge. In his Twitter post, Farley simply said, “Can’t wait to show you what’s next for Mustang…”

By brightening up the image, a date reading 11/11/23 appears in the corner alongside the coordinates to The Outlets at San Clemente mall in California. The date clearly references when it will be unveiled and the coordinates point to where it will be showcased to the world. Each Saturday, the South OC Cars and Coffee meet is held at the South West parking lot of the mall so it seems this is where Ford has elected to lift the veil on the special model.

The first Mustang California Special was launched way back in 1968 and it was re-introduced in 2007 as a special appearance package. In all likelihood, most of the tweaks made to this new GT California Special will be visual but there’s a chance some other minor changes will be made, perhaps related to the suspension, intake, and exhaust.

Ford also offered the sixth-gen Mustang in California Special guise in both Fastback and Convertible forms. It is still too early to say if this new model will also be sold in both body styles or just one.
