Well, it was inevitable. The movie studio A24 has purchased the rights to Walter Isaacson’s new biography of Elon Musk and plans to make a biopic out of it. Darren Aronofsky, famous for films such as “The Whale” and “Black Swan,” will direct.

The as yet unnamed film will be produced by Aronofsky’s production company, Protoza. Both it and the studio A24 have been staples at the Academy Awards recently, with Protoza earning Oscars for “The Whale,” and the studio earning 18 nominations this year alone.

The rights to the book were released by Simon & Schuster, and A24 won the deal in a hotly contested battle with other studios, reports Reuters. That’s unsurprising, since Isaacson’s book quickly earned the top spot on the New York Times’ bestseller list after its release, and its subject is a popular media figure.

A Movie About Elon Musk Is In The Works, Who Do You Think Should Play Him?

The richest man on earth, Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and The Boring Company. He also bought the social media platform Twitter in a highly publicized and unusual deal recently. He has since renamed the platform X.

On his social media site, Musk was glowing about the deal, writing that he is “Glad Darren [Aronofsky] is doing it. He is one of the best.” The executive’s career so far has been defined by his love of attention, so it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that he is onboard with his life getting the Hollywood treatment.

Isaacson is doubtless comfortable with his book getting the same treatment, since he is no stranger to Hollywood. His biography of Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs, was turned into a movie in 2015 that was directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle. It starred Michael Fassbender in the eponymous role.

It is not yet clear who will be cast to play Elon Musk, so who do you think should take the role? I hear that Joaquin Phoenix is into playing complicated historical figures with a complex, though Napoleon never shied from a fight.
