The Los Angeles Auto Show kicked off on Thursday, but something was a bit different this year. Instead of a bevy of new all-electric automobiles, the spotlight was predominantly on internal combustion cars, with or without hybrid assistance. Crossovers took center stage, which, while far less surprising, remained a prominent feature of the event.
Interestingly, this year’s LA Auto Show wasn’t always going to be so SUV-focused. Back in late October, Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and RAM backed out of the show entirely. That took away any opportunity to see big new EVs and hybrids like the RAM 1500 Ramcharger, the Fiat 500e, and maybe even an all-electric Jeep.
Instead, the show was heavily focused on SUVs, a type of vehicle that has dominated American roadways for quite some time now. Among the cars we saw are are new Genesis GV80 siblings including the standard SUV and the Coupe version. They were on display near the facelifted Kia Sorento, the new EV3, and EV4 concepts along with the Hyundai Santa Fe, and the 641 hp Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Toyota released two major vehicles including a new 2025 Camry sedan in Malibu before the official unveiling at the show. It also showed off a new hybrid crossover called the Crown Signia SUV that will replace the Venza next year. It’s not as dapper and daring as the rest of the current Crown lineup, but it’s an interesting addition nonetheless. Honda’s Prelude concept also made its North American debut.
We got an early glimpse of the new 2025 Subaru Forester well before the show, but there was another noteworthy crossover making its debut that just so happens to be an EV too. That’s the Lucid Gravity which can’t get to production fast enough to keep the company functioning.
Shifting our focus from the premieres, both Ford and Chevrolet showcased a range of vehicles from their existing lineups. This included everything from the new Blazer EV to the new Mustang GTD.
In addition to these offerings, the event also featured a selection of enthusiast-centric vehicles. Drive It Forward Foundation presented a Pagani Huayra, while McLaren graced the show with a couple of their high-performance cars. The impressive Zenvo Aurora will no doubt capture everyone’s attention, and there are also some movie-inspired cars as well.
Of course, maybe nothing stole the show like the Aitekx Robotruck, which unmistakably apes the Tesla Cybertruck in a not so sincere form of imitation.
