The 2024 Genesis G70 range has just been announced for the Australian market and unfortunately for local buyers, the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder introduced in overseas markets is nowhere to be seen.

The carmaker’s local division has simplified the G70 range for the 2024 model year and will only sell it in two guises. Sitting at the base of the range is the G70 Shooting Brake Sport Line Luxury, which is sold exclusively with the firm’s entry-level 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This engine is capped at 179 kW (240 hp) and 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque, significantly less than the 224 kW (300 hp) and 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) of the new 2.5-liter turbo-four available elsewhere.

Genesis Shrinks 2024 G70 Range In Australia To Single Sedan And Shooting Brake Model

Local prices for the G70 Shooting Brake start at AU$81,000 ($53,000) and while the sole engine option may disappoint some customers, all models come standard with Brembo brakes, rear-wheel drive, and a limited-slip differential. The 2024MY version has also been updated with Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and updated Genesis badges.

Then we have the sedan. While the G70 sedan has been offered with either the 2.0-liter turbo-four or the flagship 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 in previous model years, it is only the 3.3-liter that has survived for 2024. This engine continues to muscle out 274 kW (367 hp) and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission funneling power through the rear wheels. All G70 sedan models are also equipped with Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential. They also receive an active variable exhaust.

Changes made for the 2024 model year are limited to the addition of an extra USB port in the second row, a new 6-inch touch climate control display, a frameless electro-chromatic rearview mirror, and support for Connected Car Services and over-the-air updates. Local prices start at AU$88,000 ($57,675) and the only available option for the G70 sedan is AU$2,000 ($1,310) matte paint.
