  • New Toyota Crown Nightshade features dark exterior accents and matte black 21-inch wheels.
  • Flagship Platinum trim gains a new head-up display as standard.
  • The rest of the lineup is largely carried over with price hikes between $300 and $1,920.

Toyota announced the 2025 Crown for the U.S. market and the highlight is the addition of the dark-themed Nightshade trim. The hybrid-only crossover gets a price hike for 2025, starting at $41,440, or $1,390 more compared to last year’s model.

Setting aside the new Nightshade option, the 2025 Toyota Crown is available in the XLE, Limited, and Platinum trim, with the latter retaining its spot as the flagship of the range. You can check out the pricing differences between the 2024 MY and the 2025 MY on the chart below:

The 2025 Toyota Crown Nightshade is based on the Limited trim but features dark badging, black trim (door handles, mirror caps, shark fin, door cladding), and a set of 21-inch wheels finished in matte black. It is exclusively available in Storm Cloud and Black paint finishes, unlike the rest of the lineup which retains the same color palette as last year. Despite the dark theme, the Nightshade doesn’t get the extensive bi-tone treatment of the Platinum flagship which is distinguished by the black hood, roof, and tailgate.

All grades come standard with dual 12.3-inch displays, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and front heated and ventilated seats. The XLE gets a 6-speaker sound system, but the rest of the lineup upgrades to a nicer 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio System.

New for 2025 is a head-up display that comes standard to the Platinum, alongside a hands-free power trunk. Higher trims also get more sophisticated ADAS over the standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite which is standard across the range.

Carry-Over Powertrains

Predictably, the hybrid-only powertrain lineup of the Toyota Crown is carried over. The XLE, Limited, and Nightshade are fitted with the 2.5-liter engine and dual electric motors producing a combined 236 hp (176 kW / 239 PS). This setup is connected to Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel-drive system.

The flagship Platinum is the only Crown powered by the more powerful Hybrid MAX powertrain, which combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with dual electric motors. The combined power output is 340 hp (254 kW / 345 PS) and is transmitted to all four wheels via a model-specific full-time electronic all-wheel-drive system. The Platinum also gets the Adaptive Variable Suspension which changes settings depending on the selected drive mode, and the Dynamic Rear Steering system.

Unfortunately, U.S. buyers don’t have access to special editions of the Toyota Crown like the adventurous Landscape or the Matte Metal Limited Edition which are reserved for its home market in Japan.
