A new “Earth Color Package” and an improved wheelchair mount are the highlights of the 2024 model year updates for the immortal LCV

Toyota unveiled the sixth generation of the HiAce van back in 2019, but the previous fifth generation model remains available in its home market in Japan, where it was just renewed for 2024. The popular LCV has been around largely unchanged since 2004, but its shorter cab-over bodystyle keeps it relevant to Japanese buyers with the assistance of minor but frequent model year updates.
Don’t try to spot any visual upgrades, as the exterior design of the Toyota HiAce H200 remains virtually unchanged for 2024. However, there is a new “Earth Color Package” that is exclusively available for the flagship diesel-powered Super GL trim. The optional package combines a beige shade with a matte black grille while retaining the unpainted bumpers and the chrome finish for the mirrors and door handles.

Another upgrade for 2024 is a new wheelchair mount for the HiAce Welcab, which is said to speed up the process of securing the wheelchair inside the cabin. Finally, the ambulance version of the HiAce now comes standard with the “ITS Connect” (Intelligent Transportation System) that helps reduce emergency transport times and prevent accidents by transmitting signals to the infrastructure and nearby vehicles.
Unsurprisingly, the powertrain lineup is carried over from the previous model year, including the 2.0-liter gasoline, the 2.7-liter gasoline, and the 2.8-liter diesel options, available in both RWD and 4WD guises. The same applies to the Toyota Safety Sense suite which is limited to basic ADAS like the collision avoidance assist, lane departure warning, and auto high beams.
In Japan, the 2024 Toyota HiAce is available in regular van, passenger wagon, long-wheelbase commuter, high-roof welcab, and ambulance bodystyles. Pricing starts from ¥2,439,500 ($25,090) for the cheapest gasoline-powered van, climbing up to ¥12,017,000 ($82,920) for the most expensive and fully equipped ambulance.
