Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been trying to break into the electric vehicle (EV) game, and it has impressed with its first attempt, the SU7 sedan. However, consumers did have some notes for the automaker, which surprisingly for a car that has already been presented, has led to a few subtle changes in its design.

Documents filed with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have revealed that, although the overall look remains unchanged, Xiaomi will has come up with few new ideas to make it look sportier.

The biggest change is at the back of the vehicle. It appears that the brand has created a smaller rear badge to make it a little more proportional. Whereas the brand’s name formerly took up almost all of the space available on the trunk, it is now significantly smaller.

Xiaomi Listens And Tweaks SU7 Design After Customer Feedback

In addition, the newly formed brand has added 21-inch wheels to the options list (the sizes previously topped out at 20), and the brake calipers now come in different colors. Finally, carbon fiber mirror caps have been added to the options list, likely to make the design look a little sportier.

Although the source of these changes has not been made clear, Xiaomi revealed recently that it had invited famed former BMW designer Chris Bangle to its offices in order to hear his thoughts on the car. In a video, he was glowing about the Xiaomi design team’s work.

Intended as a competitor for the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S, the SU7 will be quite powerful. With two motors, the top-of-the-line model will have access to 664 hp (673 PS / 495 kW), which enables it to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.78 seconds.

Due to a 101 kWh battery pack, Xiaomi estimates that the SU7 will be capable of traveling as much as 497 miles (800 km) between charges. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the model will be able to recoup as many as 137 miles (220 km) of range in just five minutes at a fast-charging station.

As you might expect from a tech company, the SU7 will be just as impressive inside. It features a 7.1-inch instrument screen and a 16.1-inch infotainment screen that comes with all of the latest gadgets and doodads to make it feel as quick and intuitive as the latest tablets.
