When looking at this 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser from the outside, you could be excused for thinking it is simply an original model that has been kept in storage for many years and has been meticulously maintained. However, this Toyota truck has been comprehensively restored by TLC Automotive and is now probably the ultimate FZJ80-generation Land Cruiser.

The most significant change can be found under the hood. Sitting in the place of the original engine is a GM LS3 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 430 hp, coupled to a 4L65E transmission. The Land Cruiser is also rocking a Magnaflow muffler and a custom exhaust, so you can already imagine the soundtrack.

The Toyota has been fitted with DBA disc brakes and pads, and Fox shocks to improve on-road comfort and stability when off-roading. The suspension revisions include a set of OME springs, alongside a Slee off-road front sway bar.

With these mechanical changes done, TLC turned its attention to the exterior of the FZJ80, adorning it in Axolta Imperial Green with Mystic Gold accents.

Among the key upgrades made to the cabin is a set of new Relicate leather seats with plaid inserts, an Alcantara headliner, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Sound deadening has also been fitted alongside a beefed-up audio system with a JVC head unit and Kicker KS speakers and subwoofers.

Buying a 1997 Land Cruiser like this one from TLC Automotive does not come as cheap as you would expect. Prices start at an eye-watering $250,000, enough to make the 2024 Land Cruiser seem like a bit of a bargain with its expected mid-$50,000 starting price.
