Great Wall Motors is preparing to launch yet another EV brand and has teased its first model, taking the form of a long luxury sedan.

The new brand is codenamed ZX and will compete at the upper echelon of the market in China. A single sketch of the new luxury sedan has been released and it seems to share some similarities with the Hongqi H9 but is slightly larger.

We can see that the rear of the new high-end EV from Great Wall has large LED taillights similar in shape to those of the H9 which stretch down the fascia while also extending along the rear quarter panels. Given that this is a design sketch, the car is depicted rocking a set of massive wheels but the production model will probably look a little more grounded. With that being said, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the car launched with 22- or even 23-inch wheels.

The inspiration from the H9 appears to continue along the sides where there is a prominent chrome accent running along the base of the doors and then running diagonally up the front quarter panel. The chrome elements continue with the window surrounds and the thin wing mirrors while visible at the front are narrow LED headlights.

Very little else is known about the model but it will be 5.5 meters (18 feet) long, making it significantly longer than the H9 which stretches 5.1 meters (16.7 feet). It’ll also be longer than the BMW i7 and Mercedes-Benz S-Class and should offer an incredible amount of interior space. Interestingly, the car depicted has a very long hood which seems like an odd design choice if the car is indeed sold solely as an EV.

Great Wall Motors is expected to preview the new car with a thinly-veiled concept at April’s Beijing Auto Show before the production model launches in the fourth quarter.
