What you’re looking at is the new VW ID.7, but it’s not the same model already on sale in various markets around the world, including in the U.S. and China. This is the new VW ID.7 S, produced by the SAIC-VW joint venture, and it’s set to be launched in the Chinese market in the not-too-distant future.
The freshly introduced ID.7 S is now part of the Chinese ID.7 lineup, alongside the ID.7 Vizzion produced through VW’s collaboration with FAW. While both models share a similar size and other technical hardware, the ID.7 S boasts a slightly differentiated design that was initially previewed by the ID.Next concept in April of the previous year.

The most obvious visual difference between the ID.7 S and the ID.7 Vizzion is the revised front fascia. The new model has a pair of distinctive headlights that sit above an LED light bar running the width of the front end. By comparison, the ID.7 from FAW-VW has its LED light bar positioned above the headlights. In addition, the shape of the bumper has been changed to give it a slightly more angular and yet refined look.
The side profile is also a little bit different. Whereas the VW ID.7 Vizzion has a prominent crease curving its way from the front quarter panels and along the doors, the shoulder line of the ID.7 is straight and slightly less prominent. The door handles appear identical but the wheels are slightly different. A handful of changes have also been made to the rear of the car, including a sportier bumper and unique LED taillights.
According to SAIC VW, the ID.7 S measures 5,026 mm (197.8 inches) in length, 1,864 mm (73.3 inches) in width, and 1,537 mm (60.5 inches) in height, featuring a wheelbase of 2,966 mm (116.8 inches). This makes it slightly longer than the FAW-VW ID.7 Vizzion, which measures 4,956 mm (195.1 inches).
While key technical specifications are currently undisclosed, it will be available with a single electric motor generating 228 hp (170 kW), slightly more powerful than the single-motor version of the FAW-VW ID.7 Vizzion, which produces 201 hp (150 kW).
