While Saab may be considered defunct with little to no hope revival, that hasn’t deterred a senior designer from Lucid Motors from indulging in the fantasy of envisioning a future luxury SUV bearing the Swedish marque’s emblem.

This creation has been brought to life by Grimaud Gervex who was also responsible for an intriguing Range Rover sedan roughly 18 months ago. While it shares very little in common with Saab models of yesteryear, it does incorporate some identifiable elements from the brand, such as its minimalistic shape and simple lines.

As the ‘Saab Rover’ has been conceptualized as an electric vehicle (EV), it forgoes the traditional front grille and instead features a sizable body-colored panel adorned with a prominent Saab script and slim LED headlights. Positioned lower on the fascia is a sleek black strip, adding to its minimalist yet eye-catching aesthetic.

Given that this is a concept, the designer has been able to give the SUV a set of tiny rear-facing cameras instead of traditional wing mirrors. The pillars have also been hidden behind the windshield and the side windows, further adding to the subtle design. A massive set of wheels have also been fitted.

The rear of the vehicle also commands attention, characterized by a small window and slender LED taillights that extend along the fascia, converging into an LED light bar positioned just above the bumper. A subtle third brake light completes the ensemble, contributing to its distinctive design.

While Saab is long gone, the company that bought its assets and factory in Trollhattan, Sweden, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), recently received an important lifeline that could result into the Emily GT EV hitting the market. The car was unveiled last year before NEVS was placed into ‘hibernation’ by owner Evergrande Group but in December, was acquired by Canadian startup EV Electra.
