GM has delayed sales of the 2024 GMC Canyon and 2024 Chevrolet Colorado models because of a software issue that needs fixing.

The automotive juggernaut has issued a stop-sale across roughly 15,000 Canyon and Colorado vehicles after discovering a software issue during testing. These vehicles have started to ship to dealerships but have not yet reached the hands of customers.

“Certain [model year 2024] Colorados and Canyons displayed intermittent software quality issues, identified during our rigorous validation process,” GM vice president of global technology communications Brandee Barker told Auto News. “A fix has been identified and implemented into vehicles that have begun shipping to dealers this morning.”

2024 GMC Canyon And Chevy Colorado Sales Halted Over Software Glitches

CarScoops has reached out to General Motors seeking additional information about the software issues and will update this post when we hear back.

This is not the first time GM has had to halt sales of a new model over software issues. Last year, a stop-sale was ordered for the Blazer EV due to issues impacting the functionality of the screens. This problem also prompted GM to establish new software testing and quality processes.

“We are disappointed when we choose to pause sales, but we are committed to quality and the customer experience, therefore software updates will continue to be part of the process as our vehicles become more and more technologically advanced,” Barker added.

GMC took off the covers to the new-age Canyon in late 2022 before it hit the market for the 2023 model year. In addition to benefiting from radical new styling, the truck has a significantly more premium interior with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, an 11.3-inch infotainment display, and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both the Canyon and Colorado are sold with turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engines.
