With the new Huracan Sterrato and the 911 Dakar, both Lamborghini and Porsche demonstrated their ability to create supercars capable of traversing diverse terrains – and at the same time, igniting a desire for similar builds. Independent designer ‘spdesignsest’ has followed suit by creating the Dakar Edition for the Maserati MC20, currently confined to the digital realm.
The project began with the concept of a Maserati designed for off-road adventures. While Maserati already offers the Grecale and Levante SUVs for this purpose, the idea was to introduce a new variant of Maserati’s flagship mid-engined supercar. The result is the fictional MC20 Dakar Edition, featuring a bespoke body kit, a sleek roof rack, and an adventurous stance enabled by a lifted suspension and grippier tires.

At the front, there is an oversized bumper extension that doubles as a skid plate. The profile features crossover-inspired fender extensions and side moldings finished in black plastic. The tail sports a redesigned vented engine cover, a lip spoiler, and a new rear bumper with an aluminum-style skid plate. Finally, the roof rack has integrated LEDs and adds some practicality to the two-seater supercar.
The adventurous bits on the Maserati would not need any power upgrades, as projects like this prioritize fun and style over outright performance – and besides, the MC20’s engine should be more than enough. The mid-mounted twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 is good for 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque in stock form.. However, the off-road modifications, compromised aerodynamics, and added weight of the Dakar Edition would undoubtedly impact acceleration and top speed figures.
Spdesignsest works for the tuning company 7 Design House, which already offes visual enhancements for the Maserati MC20 Coupe and Cielo. So could the tuner make design proposal a reality? We don’t know, but the Dakar Edition could potentially come to fruition if there’s sufficient interest from Maserati’s customers.
