Mini is gearing up to unveil the all-new Aceman, but the electric crossover made an early appearance in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The subcompact model bridges the gap between the Cooper and the Countryman. However, unlike those two, it will be exclusively available with a fully electric powertrain.
The Aceman looks like a smaller and sportier iteration of the new Countryman, with proportions more akin to a subcompact hatch than an SUV. It embraces Mini’s contemporary design ethos, marked by angular lighting units, an octagonal grille, and defined fenders. Yet, it maintains traditional Mini elements such as the signature wraparound greenhouse and short overhangs.

The images showcase both the regular and S trims of the Mini Aceman, highlighting subtle styling distinctions between them. The upscale variant flaunts fancier LED headlights, bronze accents on the skid plates, and an S badge on the tailgate. Additionally, various alloy wheel designs ranging from 17 to 19 inches are presented, along with optional features for the flagship JCW (John Cooper Works) trim like a prominent rear spoiler and decorative decals.
Mini has already confirmed that the Aceman is 4,075 mm (160.4 inches) long, 1,754 mm (69.1 inches) wide, and 1,495 mm (58.9 inches) tall, but the documents reveal the 2,606 mm (102.6 inches) wheelbase. This means it has 80 mm (3.15 inches) more space between the axles compared to the Mini Cooper while being 217 mm (8.5 inches) longer. Still, the Aceman keeps a safe distance from the new Countryman which is a full 354 mm (13.9 inches) longer.
Powertrain options
As for the technical specifications, the Mini Aceman will share its underpinnings with the smaller Mini Cooper Electric. The entry-level model is expected to feature a single front-mounted electric motor producing 181 hp (135 kW / 184 PS) and a 40.7 kWh battery pack.
Conversely, the Aceman S is expected to feature a more potent 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) motor paired with a larger 54.2 kWh battery. According to documents from China, the latter is indicated to have a capped top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph). Lastly, the JCW trim will offer styling and chassis enhancements without any additional power boost.
The official debut of the Mini Aceman is anticipated to occur at the Auto China show on April 24, with a worldwide rollout slated for later this year.
