  • One BMW driver in a group of reckless motorists crashed while trying to slip through slow traffic at high speed.
  • Both he and another driver caught the incident on camera, along with several minutes of illegal driving maneuvers.
  • It’s unclear if local authorities are doing anything to stop these dangerous NY drivers.

In a six-minute video shared on social media, including the ‘Slow Benz’ YouTube account, which you may be familiar with from a previous story we shared about an M3 taunting an NYPD patrol car earlier this month, one driver documents dangerous and illegal driving behavior that culminates in a crash.

A group of at least three BMWs weaves through slow traffic at a New York city expressway at dangerously high speeds before the accident. It appears as though these people are making a name for themselves with little to no accountability.

This latest POV clip starts with a disclaimer that these drivers are not only professionals, but that they’re in a controlled environment. Clearly, they’re trolling us, as the reality unfolds quite differently—they’re all tearing up a very busy highway, and as you’ll see in the other clips, it’s not the first time. The group here consists of at least three cars including an M4. Posted speed limit signs show a cap at 50 mph (80 km/h).

Despite that, the trio quickly surpasses the triple-digit mark only moments after narrowly avoiding several cars. But of course, that doesn’t deter them from continuing their reckless behavior at high speeds, only easing off slightly when traffic becomes denser. And wouldn’t you know it, that’s when karma hits.

The M4 in the group swings hard to the right onto the shoulder to overtake a vehicle. It appears to have lost grip (who knew that the shoulder could be slick?) and began sliding hard to the left. There, it hits a Honda CR-V in lane one before overtaking that car and slamming into the concrete barrier. It grinds to a halt against the wall.

The driver of the main camera car (notice how he squeezes between two cars in their lanes at the 6:03-minute mark) driving behind the M4 appears somehow shocked that something like this could happen. “Oh my god, no bro,” he exclaims. It’s unclear what happened after that, but an Instagram account that appears to belong to the M4 driver posted saying that he and the car were “valid” presumably meaning that they’re okay.

Notably, the video seems to indicate that these cars don’t have normal license plates affixed to the rear during these antics. Perhaps that’s why none of them have been arrested or had their cars impounded. A video below originally showed the vehicle that eventually crashed, driving during the same time but conveniently omitting the accident in the end. While the YouTube video was deleted, the clip made its way on Instagram, as you can see below.

This isn’t the first time we’ve featured this same YouTube channel – though it’s unknown if the channel is owned by one of the drivers or if they’re sharing content from other users. Earlier this month, Carscoops reported on another video posted there where a driver performs donuts around an NYPD patrol car. Despite that close call with authorities, it seems as though the NYPD has done little to curb this group’s antics.

Let’s be clear about something here: these drivers undoubtedly possess skills that surpass those of the average driver. But that’s akin to claiming someone can safely juggle flaming torches in a crowded room. Sure, they might have a knack for it, but the risk they’re imposing on others is downright stupid and criminal.

And just because they can maneuver a vehicle at high speeds doesn’t automatically qualify them as expert drivers in the grand scheme of things. Think you’re awesome behind the wheel? There’s a time and place for everything; channel that talent onto a track, where you can showcase your skills without endangering innocent lives on public roads.
