The engineers from Germany’s Opus are among the first to modify the second-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 63, making the potent sports car even more capable without ruining the sleek design.
When it leaves the factory, the AMG GT 63 delivers 577 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. The first upgrade package developed by Opus, known as a Stage 1 kit, tweaks the car’s standard ECU and delivers 700 hp (710 PS) and 701 lb-ft (950 Nm) of torque.

The tuner says the horsepower and torque gains allow the tuned GT 63 to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds compared to the 3.2 seconds required by the standard model. The car can also run to 200 km/h (124 mph) in just 9.5 seconds. The top speed remains electronically limited to 315 km/h (196 mph).
Opus is going through TÜV approval for its Stage 1 kit and plans to begin sales of the package in May. Pricing has not yet been announced, but a new exhaust is also in the works.
Further modifications for AMG’s flagship sports car are also around the corner. Opus engineers have started to work on an 800 hp package that will also increase torque to 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm). Details about this kit are limited but it may include some mechanical changes to ensure the V8 can safely sustain such power figures.
While Opus may not be a household name, it has plenty of experience working on Mercedes-AMG products. It even created a 1,111 hp version of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and says it has modified more than 130 previous-generation AMG GTs.
