  • The latest prototype of the Afeela electric sedan was presented at CES in January.
  • Power comes from a 91 kWh battery pack and two electric motors with 483 hp.
  • Skoda also recently launched its Vision Gran Turismo concept in the racing simulator.

The Afeela sedan from Sony Honda Mobility won’t reach the production line until next year but already, the compelling electric vehicle has been added to Gran Turismo 7.

Interestingly, Sony Honda Mobility has yet to unveil the Afeela in production guise and has only shown it as a prototype. As such, the electric sedan that’s now available in Gran Turismo 7 is the same prototype unveiled at CES in January. While the Afeela is not designed for the racetrack, given Sony is the publisher of the Gran Turismo series, it’s hardly a surprise it has been added to the world’s most famous driving simulator.

Under the minimalist exterior of the Afeela is a pair of electric motors combining to produce 483 hp. These motors receive their juice from a 91 kWh battery pack that supports 150 kW DC fast charging and 11 kW Level 2 charging. Sony Honda hasn’t said if the production model will have this same powertrain but we suspect it will, although it would be nice to see the peak DC charging speeds increased.

The interior of the Afeela in Gran Turismo 7 is also a perfect recreation of the real car. That means it rocks the same intriguing yoke-style steering wheel and the same displays stretching across the entire width of the dashboard.

The Afeela isn’t the only new car added to Gran Turismo 7 nor is it the most compelling. Skoda launched its Vision Gran Turismo concept earlier this week, inspired by the 1957 1100 OHC Spider. Like other Vision Gran Turismo concepts launched over the years, it is far removed from any production car that Skoda will ever build and includes a complex active aerodynamics system. It has also been dreamt up with four electric motors and 1,073 hp.
