BMW is adding a number of desirable features across its lineup for the Spring of 2023. The 4-Series and M4 get big infotainment upgrades while the X7 adds BMW Crystal Headlights and multiple models get enhanced parking assist. Here’s a breakdown of everything BMW is adding to some of its lineup in the next few months.

To kick things off, the entire 4-Series lineup is getting BMW’s Operating System 8. That includes a number of features on its own but it also incorporates BMW’s Curved Display. This fully digital screen is made up of a 14.9-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch driver information display. The entire 4-Series lineup, including the M4, gets a new toggle gear selector too.

The three-row X7 SUV and its all-electric sibling the iX both get BMW’s Highway Assist. That software suite allows what BMW calls “attentive hands-free driving on limited access highways at speeds up to 85 mph.” In addition, the X7 gets the BMW Crystal Headlights that were first seen on the latest 7-Series.

BMW’s 2023 Spring Update Brings Curved Display And Remote Parking To Some Models

All three of those vehicles, the 7-Series, the X7, and the iX get a new remote control parking feature too. According to the brand, Parking Assistant Professional allows owners to get out of their car and then guide it into a parking space and “carry out more complex maneuvering from outside the vehicle via the My BMW app.”

Those “complex maneuvers” sound pretty impressive too. The system can record up to 10 maneuvers at different locations. Then, it can repeat those maneuvers to get into or out of a space all without the driver in the car. We’re not talking about something simple like backing out of a spot or rolling into one either.

Here’s how BMW describes the feature: “The Maneuver Assistant can also record and store up to ten maneuvers at different locations, each covering a maximum distance of 200 meters and up to a combined total of 600 meters. When the vehicle returns to one of the stored starting points, the system performs all the driving tasks required to navigate the distance, including acceleration, braking, steering, and, if required, multiple direction and gear changes.” We hope we get to see that tested independently in the wild soon.

Finally, the BMW iX also gets a manual pre-conditioning feature for the battery. That will make it quicker for owners to charge their vehicle when headed to a charger not input into the navigation system. Most of the changes to the fleet come online in March though some will be delayed until April, BMW says.
