Regular security patches are crucial to the long-term health of Android phones. Most Android OEMs develop their own versions of monthly security patches, and you can expect to receive them for a number of years.

For instance, Samsung promises five years of security updates for its flagships. Google also recently extended its security update promise for five years, starting with the Pixel 6 line. Others like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, and more provide anywhere between three to four years of security patches depending on different categories of phones.
