At the Paris Motor Show, Peugeot announced the Inception, a new concept that will debut soon, previewing a number of design features and technologies set to be applied in a future range of Peugeot-branded EVs called “e-Native” cars.
Linda Jackson, Peugeot CEO, confirmed the upcoming concept saying that it will preview the “next generation of e-Native models – based on new platforms designed for pure electric vehicles”. This sounds a lot like Peugeot’s take on the STLA architectures announced last year, offering up to 800 km (500 miles) of range depending on the battery specification and being compatible with electric motors of different outputs.

The Peugeot Inception concept will introduce an evolution of the French automaker’s design language while retaining some of its core elements. Peugeot confirmed that the “feline posture” and the “three-claw light signatures” most likely including the signature LED fangs on the front bumper will be carried over to its new era.
Inside, the concept will incorporate the next generation of the i-Cockpit. Peugeot designers claim that the new interior will “reshape driving gestures” while creating “new digital and physical experiences”. Does that mean we should expect a different kind of steering wheel and user interface? Peugeot added that the Inception will “show the way for features and technology” set to be applied in production models from the middle of the decade.
From An Electrified Range In 2023, To An EV-Only Portfolio By 2030
“As early as 2023, we will offer an electrified version of every Peugeot model. But we are also looking far beyond that”, said Jackson, confirming the debut of five new EVs for the next two years. Peugeot will have fully electric derivatives across its entire range by 2025, before going EV-only in Europe by 2030.
Mind you, the French automaker has already shown us the E-308 in hatchback and SW forms, the recently updated E-208 supermini, and the E-2008 B-SUV which will most likely get an update soon, while confirming the E-408 for 2023. The E-Rifter and E-Traveller passenger MPVs are also exclusively available in electric form, while the entire LCV range has electric derivatives. This means that the only models that don’t have an EV variant yet are the 3008 and 5008 SUVs, plus the 508 in sedan and SW bodystyles. The 3008 is expected to gain a new generation in the next few years, with the 508 headling for a facelift.
