Brabus is a tuning company that trades in high-power vehicles, meaning that when it announces its most potent vehicle ever, it’s an impressive thing. And, indeed, the Brabus 930 is an achievement.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance, the tuning company benefited from a quite powerful starting point. From Affalterbach, the stock car makes an already impressive 831 hp (620 kW/842 PS).

To improve upon that, Brabus takes the car’s 4.0-liter V8 hybrid power unit and replaces the turbochargers with two new units of its own. Not just larger, the tuner’s new turbochargers also have a new core assembly with a reinforced axial bearing to produce up to 1.8 bar (26.1 PSI).

In addition, Brabus has fitted each of the V8’s cylinder banks with its own PowerXtra control module that recalibrates the electronic boost pressure control to protect the engine while it makes more power. The automaker tested its system extensively to ensure that, despite being its most powerful vehicle ever, it wouldn’t be its least reliable.

In all, the modifications mean that the engine produces 917 hp (684 kW / 930 PS) and a whopping 1,143 lb-ft (1,550 Nm) of peak torque. That’s enough to propel the sports sedan up to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and onto a top speed of 196 mph (316 km/h).

To help manage that power, the tuner has also given the Brabus 930 an upgraded aero package. That includes a front spoiler, caps for the air intakes, a special radiator, and a carbon fiber diffuser. These can be ordered with a high-gloss or matte finish.

Meanwhile, the engine is hooked up to an exhaust system of Brabus’ own design. The titanium pipes have butterfly valves in them to allow owners to be good neighbors with the “Coming Home” mode, or full hooligans with the “Sport” mode.

The Brabus 930 sits on Monoblock Z “Platinum Edition” 10-spoke wheels that are 21-inches large at the front, and 22-inches large at the back. The tuner claims that this doesn’t just make the car look cooler, it also makes handling better. They come wrapped in Continental SportContact 7 high-performance tires.

Finally, the AMG GT’s interior is upholstered in fine black leather with bright red stitching. The seat surfaces, the floor, and the trunk feature a triangle quilting stitch design, while the pedals are covered with anodized aluminum. Carbon fiber scuff plates and backlit Brabus logos help round out the look.

For all of that power and tuning, Brabus is asking for €323,435.45 from its German customers (about US$348,560 at current exchange rates).
