The Ford Ranger Raptor will be offered in Velocity Blue and Hot Pepper Red but, for the most part, it’s Fifty Shades of Grey without the fun.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma promises to be a bit more adventurous as buyers will find hues such as Solar Octane, Supersonic Red, and Blue Crush Metallic. However, the dullards among us won’t be hurting for options with choices like Black, Bronze Oxide, Celestial Silver Metallic, Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, and Underground.

We can now add one more option to that list as Toyota has announced a TRD Pro-exclusive color known as Terra. It’s a reddish orange hue, which isn’t as in your face as Solar Octane but still gets the message across.

2024 Toyota Tacoma in Terra

A Terra paint job isn’t the only notable thing about the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro as the truck is a “go-fast” desert runner that features an all-new i-Force Max powertrain. It consists of a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a 1.87 kWh nickel-metal hydride battery, and an electric motor that is integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission. This gives the truck a combined output of 326 hp (243 kW / 331 PS) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque.

Besides the powerful hybrid powertrain, the TRD Pro has a Toyota-branded grille with an integrated LED light bar. The truck also sports a ram air hood, extended fender flares, a black roof, and a steel rear bumper with red recovery hooks. They’re joined by an aluminum front skid plate, LED fog lights, and black 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Territory R/T tires.

To ensure the truck can handle virtually everything you throw at it, the TRD Pro has been equipped with a specially tuned suspension that features red aluminum upper control arms, a lift (2 inches front and 1.5 inches rear), and Fox internal bypass manual modal Quick Switch 3 shocks with three levels of adjustment. The truck also has a front stabilizer bar disconnect system, an electronic locking rear differential, and Fox Internal Floating Piston bump stops to “knock the edge off some of the gnarliest terrain.”

The interior is most notable for featuring IsoDynamic Performance seats with integrated shock absorbers, but drivers will also find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch infotainment system, and a head-up display. They’re joined by auxiliary toggle switches, faux carbon fiber trim, and heated and ventilated front seats with camouflage-inspired upholstery.

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma will go on sale later this year although i-Force Max variants, like the TRD Pro, won’t arrive until next spring.
