The Tesla Cybertruck features a dizzying array of unique design choices including its stainless steel body. As Tesla seems unwilling to paint that body it appears to be testing wraps as an alternative and it’s doing so now with one that looks like a Toyota Tundra. This makes two different mainstream trucks that Tesla has used as wraps and now we’re wondering when the rest will appear.
First spotted in California by the folks at TeslaCybertruckOwnersClub this new Toyota Tundra-style wrap might serve multiple purposes. For one thing, it’s a surefire way to get a little more attention as it draws a direct comparison between the two pickups. Secondly, it gives Tesla the chance to test out its wrapping skills on a pickup that won’t be available with different paint colors.
Instead, CEO Elon Musk claimed back in 2020 that “you will be able to wrap it in any color or pattern.” This seems like clear evidence of Musk’s team working on that aspect of the Cybertruck sales package. While stainless steel body panels are meant to be a selling feature of the Cybertruck, they come with a few drawbacks.

For one thing, they’re evidently easy enough to scratch that Tesla is planning to include a kit for buffing out the bodywork. Wrapping the panels could protect them and give owners the chance to have a color or pattern that’s not simply silver.
Earlier this year, one was spotted with what was very clearly a Ford F-150 wrap. At the time, it was unclear as to why Tesla picked that particular pickup. Tesla hasn’t only stuck to rival truck brands either. We’ve seen a dark camo wrap making the rounds in July and an urban camo look earlier in June of this year.

Now the question is when Tesla might wrap a Cybertruck to look like a Rivian R1T, the first EV pickup to make it to production. Of course, the Cybertruck is more closely sized to that of the GMC Hummer EV, the first full-sized electric pickup to make it to production. There’s still time for Tesla to wrap a Cybertruck in a Silverado EV skin too. We’ll just have to wait and see what comes next.
