Toyota unveiled the 2025 Crown Signia last night and we immediately had questions about where it would fit into the company’s lineup. We know the answer and we’re not exactly happy about it.

According to Autonews and Car & Driver, the Venza is getting the boot after the 2024 model year. That’s disappointing news as the model was easily the brand’s best crossover and one that returned a phenomenal 40 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 39 mpg combined.

That being said, the Venza wasn’t a huge success as sales peaked at 61,718 units in 2021, shortly after its return. Sales dropped to 33,683 units the following year and the automaker has only moved 22,087 units through September of this year.

Nevertheless, the Venza and Crown Signia have a lot in common as they’re both two-row crossovers with a hybrid powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. Although Toyota has not yet disclosed pricing, they’re also likely to be priced similarly as the 2024 Venza starts at $34,920 and climbs to $43,065 in Limited trim.

While we won’t rehash last night’s article, we’ll point out the Crown Signia will arrive next summer and come equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a matching 12.3-inch infotainment system. Other highlights include power front seats, a six-speaker audio system, and a host of driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane tracing assist.

Like the Venza, the Crown Signia rides on the TNGA-K platform and features a hybridized 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as well as an on-demand all-wheel drive system with a rear electric motor. While the two are very similar, the latest entry has a combined output of 243 hp (181 kW / 246 PS), which is 24 hp (18 kW / 24 PS) more than the Venza. The extra performance is welcome, but the Crown Signia is only expected to return 36 mpg combined.

With all that being said, are you happy the Crown Signia is replacing the Venza or would you rather see that model stick around?
