The next-generation Aston Martin DBS will be reportedly even more extreme and sit atop a new line-up of sports cars from the British brand.

The current DBS has been sent off with the potent 770 Ultimate and while many had thought this would serve as the final V12-powered DBS, that may no longer be the case. It is understood that the replacement for the current DBS will be “completely different” than the DB12 and the successor to the Vantage and could serve as a direct rival to the replacement for the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

Autocar states that the next DBS will be more performance-focused than the outgoing model and as such, be further differentiated from the DB12 which has taken on a role as a slightly more comfortable long-distance cruiser than the DB11 that it replaces.

The Aston Martin DBS Could Get A More Aggressive Replacement And Keep The V12

While the brand has yet to make an official announcement on a new DBS, Aston Martin chief executive Lawrence Stroll has confirmed the brand has room for a V12 in its range beyond the current DBS. If the new model does indeed rock a version of the current 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 then it’s highly likely that performance will likely be lifted to beyond the 800-hp mark. If that is to happen then it would give the car more than enough grunt to tackle the 812 Superfast’s front-engined replacement that’s already in the works.

The next-generation DBS should also stand out from the current model on the visual front. For example, it will probably receive some styling influences from hardcore models like the Vantage V12, DBX 707, and DBS 770. Aston Martin is also bound to make a raft of modifications to its suspension and braking systems to complement any additional power it will have over the outgoing model.

It is not yet known when the new DBS will arrive but it probably won’t be until after 2025.
