This is the latest Land Rover Defender to be overhauled by Osprey Custom 4×4 and while it has a $229,950 asking price, the company based out of North Carolina believes it is the perfect vehicle for overlanding. On paper, it has most of what you could want from an overlander but that price puts it well out of reach for most of us.

In bringing this heavily modified Defender to life, Osprey has ditched the original engine and replaced it with a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated LS3 V8 out of a Corvette. Does anyone need a classic Defender with a Corvette engine? No, but we’re thrilled that it exists. Mated to the V8 is a 6180e automatic transmission and a heavy-duty transfer case. Power is sent through all four wheels and there is also a performance exhaust and custom headers.

Osprey has also fitted the Defender with new body panels bathed in a special shade it dubs Keswick Green. The Land Rover is also rocking an upgraded aluminum front wheel, front and rear LED lights, stainless steel oil cooler lines, upgraded electric fans, new weather stripping, heavy-duty axles, and stainless brake lines. It also has stainless fuel lines and new springs provided by Terra Firma. Key to the Defender’s credentials as an overlander is the large rooftop tent with a lightweight ladder.

Extensive work has also been done to the Defender’s interior. An upgrade that any potential buyer is sure to be thrilled by is the new 10-speaker audio system and a double-din multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and a reversing camera.

Osprey has also equipped it with keyless entry, various charging points, and retrimmed the seats, dashboard, and door panels in brown leather complete with intricate stitching.
