Lexus appears to be readying an expansion of the electric RZ line-up with news emerging that it has filed to trademark the names RZ350e, RZ500e, and RZ550e.

The RZ was initially offered in just one configuration known as the RZ450e. It is outfitted with a 71.4 kWh battery pack that feeds power to a 107 hp (80 kW) motor at the front axle and a 201 hp (150 kW) motor at the rear, making for a combined 308 hp (230 kW). Last week, the RZ range grew with the launch of the entry-level RZ300e version in Japan and while it retains the same 71.4 kWh pack, it is capped at 201 hp and 196 lb-ft (266 Nm).

While no official details are known about the RZ350e, RZ500e, and RZ550e, it’s reasonable to assume that the RZ350e will be quite similar to the RZ300e but benefit from a slightly more powerful electric motor to boost performance. The RZ500e and RZ550e will then serve as the flagship models in the range, CarBuzz notes.

One possibility is that the RZ500e or perhaps both the RZ500e and RZ550e will have 201 hp (150 kW) motors at both the front and rear axles, making for a combined 402 hp (300 kW). Lexus has already toyed with the idea of a 402 hp RZ when it unveiled the RZ Sport Concept at the start of this year so it’s been thinking about upping the SUV’s performance for quite some time.

We also wouldn’t put it past Lexus in giving the RZ even more power than this given that the Ford Mustang Mach-E delivers 480 hp. The RZ500e and RZ550e could also use slightly larger battery packs than the current RZ300e and RZ450e.
