HWA will build just 100 examples of its modern-day Evo II, each starting at €714,000

HWA has published new images of the much anticipated Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II restomod.
The special restomod, which HWA simply dubs the EVO, will follow a similar recipe to that of Singer in recent years. Like Singer ordinarily takes run-of-the-mill 911 models and upgrades them, HWA will take original W201 Mercedes-Benz models and transform them into the EVO, as opposed to actually taking original 2.5-16 Evo II models and messing with them.

These detailed renderings of the HWA Evo reveal that it will look very similar to the original Evo II but with several bespoke touches. The front end immediately stands out thanks to the presence of a blacked-out grille that looks much meaner than the original chrome grille, together with matching blacked-out headlights.
The sides look very similar to the original car with similarly flared front and rear wheel arches and extended side skirts. Heck, even the design of the wheels is almost identical to the original Evo II and yet, they still look good. The rear of the HWA EVO will also closely resemble the original with a large fixed wing, a bold bumper, and tinted taillights that will most probably employ LED technology.
HWA has not yet provided technical specifications about the car. The original came outfitted with a 2.6-liter four-cylinder with 232 hp tuned by Cosworth but it seems highly unlikely there are 100 of these engines laying around to fulfill HWA’s planned 100-unit production run. We think it’s more likely it will have a modern engine or perhaps HWA will work with Cosworth to build a new four-cylinder unit.
Whatever the case may be, the car will not be cheap with prices starting at an eye-watering €714,000 ($793,000).
