A tuner in Germany has created a custom version of the Mercedes-AMG G63 that we never knew we wanted. It is fittingly dubbed the G63 Cabriolet and beyond simply being a convertible version of the regular G63, it has suicide doors at the rear.

The company behind the creation, Refined Marques, started with a two-door G-Class and then grafted on all the striking exterior components of the regular four-door G63, as well as its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 powertrain. It then chopped off the roof and was able to add a small set of rear doors. Originally, these doors were going to be just like any normal door but the chief executive of Refined Marques, Ahed Al Bakry, instead decided to make them suicide doors to improve ingress and egress.

The finished creation is almost like a tiny version of the Mercedes-AMG G63 6×6 and when the roof is open, those sitting in the second row can enjoy a complete open-air experience.

German Tuner Turns Mercedes-AMG G63 Into A Cabriolet The Factory Won’t Build

Speaking with Motor1 about the car, Al Bakry says a famous American supermodel wanted to buy the first example produced by the German firm but instead, has been offered one of the 20 units that will be produced. Al Bakry notes that many collectors from the Middle East have also placed orders for the very special G63.

The first example produced and pictured here is painted in China Blue and has a particularly dramatic interior. Almost all interior surfaces are clad in plush red leather, including the seats, door panels, steering wheel, and dashboard. The folding vinyl roof is also finished in red.

Given how much work has gone into creating this special G63 Cabriolet, it comes as no surprise that it isn’t cheap. Each of the 20 units bound for production has a $1.3 million asking price.
