A designer created this unique pickup by combining the new Forester with the Chevrolet Montana

The design of the 2025 Subaru Forester has received its fair share of criticism since its unveiling (and even well before that) late last year.
While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea in terms of appearance, it is expected to retain the same level of capability and versatility as its predecessor. However, Theottle has taken things a step further by using it as the foundation for his latest project – a pickup truck or ute.
The Japanese car manufacturer does not currently have a pickup in its range, but it famously built the Brat from 1978 through to 1994 and then followed it up with the short-lived Subaru Baja in the mid-2000s. Much like how the Baja was based on the existing Legacy/Outback, this pickup shares much of its design with the new Forester but the shape has been modified extensively to allow it to support a large bed.

To create the basis for the Forester-based pickup truck, the designer morphed it together with the 2024 Chevrolet Montana, meaning the bed and pillars are very similar in shape to those of the Montana, but that’s certainly not bad. The designer has also reduced the size of the rear doors so it better works as a pickup.

Theottle has also rendered the Forester pickup from the rear. Much like the Baja, the SUV/crossover shape of the vehicle’s front half is a little at odds with the soft pickup design at the rear and it very much looks like an SUV that’s been converted into a pickup, rather than a model conceived as a pickup from the outset.
Nevertheless, we suspect that such a vehicle could sell quite well were it ever built and could give Subaru a rival to the likes of the Honda Ridgeline, Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Ford Maverick pickup trucks.
