The Wuling Starlight range will soon grow with the availability of a sleek Station Wagon variant and the Chinese brand has just previewed the upcoming model with a series of detailed renderings.

As it stands, the Starlight from General Motors’ joint venture in China, SAIC-GM-Wuling, is sold exclusively as a sedan and among the seemingly never-ending amount of new cars launching in China, it manages to stand out thanks to a striking and youthful design. These illustrations show that the estate will look even nicer.

GM’s Wuling Starlight Is A Head-Turning Wagon For China

No obvious changes have been made to the front of the car but that’s certainly no bad thing. As such, we can see that it retains the same thin LED light bar stretching across the width of the fascia while the headlights themselves are housed in separate units on either side of the front grille. The color-matched gloss black grille suits the car perfectly as do the sharp chrome elements on the outer edges of the bumper.

The dramatic changes start with the roof that has been elongated and side windows that are much larger than those of the sedan. Like the current model, there is also an angular LED light bar used in place of traditional taillights. The wagon has also been depicted with a set of roof rails and a large storage box, although it isn’t known if these will be official accessories offered by Wuling.

It appears Wuling is aiming to appeal to the growing number of lifestyle-oriented buyers in China who want to take their vehicles on adventures. The Starlight Station Wagon could prove to be a practical and stylish way to do just that. However, it is not yet clear when the vehicle will be ready for the production line and when it will reach the hands of customers.
